RECENT SHOPPING HAUL PART 2.

Part two of four on the haul ish ... these items are definitely favorites, could hardly wait for that tie-dye sweater. You might notice I'm getting stuff that are not so summer, for my trip to Zambia. Zambia is not near the equator and although it's warm year round, when it's summer here it's our version of winter there [meaning ... just cold], sad huh? Haven't been to Zambia in forever ... been in Nigeria [practically raised there, second home], Ghana and now I'm here in the US but it's just for school.

Anyway having finals next week ... have to start hitting the books soon. :(

Was on this blog I recently found called photougraphs ... this image was from her blog for a shoot she did.

POLKA DOTS FADE ... GREYS STAY THE SAME.

Just some of my recent buys ... was at Walmart [yes got them from Walmart, rare find]. I saw this and it was one of those things that you see it as a hard find and you just have to get it. Don't know if it's just me but Walmart is trying to get a bit more with the fashion industry via trying to get things in trend and such.
So will soon be a little m.i.a ... next week is finals week so will be very busy, but will see if I can drop a little something, something for you guys during that time, I love blogging so it'll be easier to get some time plus I'm not in major classes yet so I'm usually a bit more free than most.

INSPIRATION: AFRICAN LADY STYLED WITH INSPIRATION.

Found this while on Google, don't remember where I got this from but none the less I still love it and think it still needs to be posted up. What can I say it's inspiration for me. The use of print and texture is amazing, it's not too heavy on the eyes with the prints and textures of the accessories even. I love the transition from the color block and monotone blue to the print, while using those tassel like things [not sure that's the name].

Correction: said I don't remember where I got it from but Mbabazi of Unsung Dots and Adiya of The Corner Shop told me this is from Chichia London collection ... Thanks ladies!

CHRISSY ANGLIKER ... ALMOST VIBRANT.

CHRISSY ANGLIKER: canvas painter and I must say I love this painting, the colors as they streak down the blank canvas drag my eyes to follow where they lead. You can find her website and work [HERE] ... love the layout of the site.
***I've just been in love with the very abstract paintings and what I love about this is that it's not too vibrant with the mix colors as she uses some dark and deeper colors, nicely layered in, in expressive detail.

*expressive detail: a word I'm sure has been taken but I use to describe when something is made with detailing through expression and emotion.

WISHLIST: URSA MINOR LEATHER POUCH.

Well I discovered this later than most people, but Etsy is the best place to find one of a kind pieces especially work by upcoming designers of all kinds. I was on Etsy searching for a clutch like pouch and found me this one. I immediately feel in love and not just with this pouch but with the designer [ Elizabeth ]. Her label is called URSA MINOR STUDIO and you can find her work [HERE].
Right now this is in my wishlist list, and will soon be going on vacation home and don't have much time to buy things online especially when it's designer made, not certain how long shipping might last, you know?
So when I'm back you will soon be mine. mwah-hahahahaha...

SO DO YOU SHOP AT ETSY.COM MUCH?

BLACK & WHITE HELPS THE IMAGINATION CONSIDER WHAT COULD BE.

Human consciousness arose but a minute before midnight on the geological clock.  Yet we mayflies try to bend an ancient world to our purposes, ignorant perhaps of the messages buried in its long history.  Let us hope that we are still in the early morning of our April day.  ~Stephen Jay Gould, "Our Allotted Lifetimes," The Panda's Thumb, 1980

***decided to show these pictures I took, still getting to know my DSLR and haven't had the chance to go outside and take some pictures [the weather keeps messing my plans up] plus need to get a remote so I can take pictures of myself, outfit and such. =]

FAVORITE DESIGNER: JIL SANDER FALL 2011

Heidemarie Jiline 'Jil' Sander (born 27 November 1943) is a minimalist German fashion designer and the founder of the Jil Sander fashion house.
Sander's trademark look, a contemporary, somewhat odd, New Look – originally intended for women conquering executive positions in the 1980s – was that of a precisely cut pantsuit, a slim blouse and a form-fitting coat made of luxurious fabrics in plain grey, beige, blue, black or white. click here to read more ...
I've been campaigning minimalism and just less can be more when done right and accessorize properly. This is why Jil Sander is my favorite designer and I don't see myself changing favorite designers, unless someone else can top Jil Sander. I will admit that some of the best designers who can really bring out some classy tailored pieces that fit womens bodies are usually male designers but with her label Jil Sander and a few other female designers manage to be on point all the time.
This collection is definitely a favorite, even the use of print still brought that color block, minimalistic monotone feel to the designs. These pieces are definitely for the more classy woman and a little bit of elegant grudgy-ness, with the boots and gloves. Apart from those more elegant grudgy pieces, this line was definitely elegant and very ready-to-wear, 'cause anyone could grab a piece, put it on, walk out and look equally as amazing as the models.
Look at the rest of the collection [HERE] ... where the images where taken from.

MR HUDSON. BETTER THAN A PRODIGY.

I will admit I didn't have a clue who Mr Hudson was until he was name Kanye's prodigy. When I heard "Supernova" I fell in love with his voice, and upon further obsessive research fell in love with the person. His lyrics where what caught me, having both poetic rhythm and it's depth.
His debut album Mr Hudson & The Library "A Tale of Two Cities". This album felt very vintage not only in the sense of the songs themselves but in the fact that there wasn't just one or two hits and the rest of the songs just merely filling space. Fell in love with his second album "Straight No Chaser" as well. I'm big on Mr Hudson. No word of a third album, but I wait patiently. Can't rush art.

TEXTURE, COLOR AND PRINTS ... FASHION YUM.

POP Magazine the 21st Issue.
Feels very vintage voyager and I don't know if it's just me but there is that granny vibe coming from this shoot yet still young, you know? A lot of textures, colors and prints on the models and around them.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS SHOOT?

CREATIVESILENCE ... MY TYPE OF CREATIVE.

CHRIS CHARLES: recently came across him through the Target Queen blog and fell in love with his work and the concept he derives inspiration from. ... *love the colors used in the images.
Owner of CreativeSilence photo + design; he is a freelance photographer and graphic designer. Calls himself "a beat junky, music snob, art lover, father, sometimesy producer and picky dresser." Check his blog [HERE]
I cropped the image above a bit but if you'd like to see the full image and look at the images from this shoot check them [HERE]
What can we say creative people love creative people and Chris definitely loves himself creative.

PAMELA LOVE FALL 2011 ... YOU KNOW?

Pamela Love NYC's Fall 2011 collection.
This line is air-filled with simple yet very statement pieces, the minimalist Bohemian/Greek feel to the pieces just puts me in a state of marvel. Her use of the quartz gives this a very earthy tone and elements inspired vibe [the pieces feel so original, don't you think?]. This apparently has been out on the net for a while but I just recently found out who designer was and just had to post this up, another piece of inspiration to my mental collection. Here is Pamela Love NYC's website [HERE] ... go fall in love there.
These shoot was done by the Billy Farrell Agency ... ... ... at the Pamela Love Fall 2011 collection presentation and thanks to David X Prutting for taking these pictures because they are amazing and definitely make me want to go break the bank and get one of these.

THE THINGS I CAN LIVE FOR, THINGS I CAN GIVE FOR.

... recently was on Fasha and found this song by Paris Jones called "Winter" and if I'm posting it you know it's a favorite! Paris Jones is an upcoming artist who's rap mixed with the amazing beats/background music brings a lighter less gangster side to hip hop that seemed have been lost for a while [basically rap with substance]. I'm deemed a Paris Jones fan and in true fan nature I looked up his more songs and fell for the "From Paris with Love" album [which I want].
Have a listen to "Sky of Love" [HERE] another great one from Paris!

VIRGOS . VIRGOS LOUNGE 2011 PEACOCK COLLECTION.

The Virgos Lounge Lookbook for this 2011 [Peacock Collection] ... a collection that's definitely for those more special events and occasions, definitely a "Gossip Girl" event will suffice [definitely very stop and stare pieces]. The collection is very elegant and has a bold vibe to it, this collection is definitely a Virgos piece [if you are familiar]. If you don't know Virgos Lounge they are an online vintage store and also design vintage inspired pieces which are amazing!

***have been watching Virgos Lounge for awhile and the pieces are just amazing, but my only problem is that as a college student the types of occasions to dress in one of these pieces hardly happen. Sad huh?
You can shop this collection and the other pieces or even previous pieces [HERE]

CLEARLY THIERRY MUGLER FALL/WINTER 2011.

Apart from the obvious that you see in Thierry Mugler, this is an amazing runway show both in concept and the choices to go with the more monotone designs. I would have loved to be front row [even in the back, just in the same air as this show] ... it is the full show video but it is worth the time and watch, felt like watching a play intro very suspense like. Lady Gaga showing up at the end of the show, dressed as herself [who else right?] just shows her presence although would have been nice for her to do a bit more. The video is here to speak for itself, the models movements are just so in character, and catwalk and movements just flow with the pieces.

Mugler Womenswear Fall Winter 2011 2012 Full Fashion Show from Devon Nicholas on Vimeo.

P.S. did you see that model that almost fell 'cause of the really high heels, made me gasp, but false alarm she recovered pretty well if you ask me [although you can tell she was nervous about messing up] .... ah fashion.

IT'S A COLD WAR, DO YOU KNOW?

DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR FIGHTING FOR?
Janelle Monae ... her music is very beautiful. Both soulful and with beat, just hit you like a ton of bricks. Her style is something that speaks for itself and you can definitely see a bit of her and persona in her clothes. When she one a major award, not so sure which award but when she spoke you could tell she is someone who knows herself to the brim and has a strong message, very warrior like spirit in my opinion.

***also bought her CD ... came today but forgot to get it from my mailbox! Damn!

SHINGAI SHONIWA.

Another amazing individual.
Shingai Shoniwa and African native specifically from Zimbabwe. If you are in the Shingai Shoniwa stalker group, you would know that her style is beyond us and you can tell she has a love for the abstract when it comes to her choice in jewelry and lately, I've been obsessing over getting the abstract type jewelry.
He voice I will say is amazing and she has been well praised by Rolling Stones, to name a few. LOVE you're voice and adore the person I see in public. :)
